Edward Amo-Krah is a dedicated professional with a broad range of expertise in educational services and community engagement. Holding a degree in Business Management from William Paterson University and a Master’s Degree in Education Counseling, Edward serves as a school counselor in the Union City School District, where he plays an instrumental role in supporting students and their families.
Edward’s approach to school counseling is comprehensive and student-focused. He regularly collaborates with teachers to discuss student challenges, reviewing both current and past academic performance, including report cards and standardized test scores. He actively involves parents or legal guardians in the development and implementation of interventions that address students' needs. Additionally, he monitors the progress of students referred to the Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) to ensure effective support. As a 504 coordinator, Edward schedules and facilitates meetings with teachers and parents to set up, review, and evaluate 504 plans, ensuring students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations.
In his role as the HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) Coordinator, Edward focuses on developing and strengthening policies around bullying prevention and ensuring a safe school environment. He collaborates with the Board of Education, Superintendent, and Anti-Bullying Specialists to improve and refine HIB policies. His responsibilities include providing critical data to the Department of Education on HIB matters, chairing the school safety team, ensuring compliance with New Jersey’s laws regarding school safety, and preparing various reports and correspondence related to bullying and safety matters.
Outside of his role in the school district, Edward is deeply committed to his community. As part of the Board of Executives of the KIR Foundation, he plays a pivotal role in implementing strategic plans, managing daily operations, and making quick decisions during urgent situations. He is highly active in community programs for troubled youth, working with organizations such as Life Management Incorporated to provide guidance and support to young people in Jersey City, NJ. Edward’s commitment to his community is also evident through his leadership and engagement with local organizations that focus on the well-being and success of youth.
At the core of Edward's work and life is his family, particularly his son, who remains his most important source of inspiration. His commitment to the success and well-being of others, especially the younger generation, reflects his personal values of care, responsibility, and community service.
